{granny square hat}

Another great tutorial from Bob Wilson, the same lady that did the video on the puff stitch beanie, this hat is VERY easy and is VERY quick to complete. These are all clusters of 3 double crochet, chain one. There is only one part of the hat where you have to do an increase row and it is explained very well in the video. I always make a flower to attach to this hat that is why there is also a video for making a flower. In the flower video they explain how to change colors for flowers as well.

{puff stitch beanie}

This is probably my favorite adult hat that I have done so far. It's got the slouchy beanie awesomeness plus the puff stitch that gives it that little some special. This is the best explanation of the puff stitch that I have found, and if you can do a double crochet then you'll be able to do the puff stitch. Given I can't wear this until fall since we are already getting that lovely mid-west humidity, I still love it. Usually for hats I use softer yarn, such as the Caron simply soft brand, but with the puff stitch I have found it easier to make when using the Red Heart branded yarn. The Red Heart yarn is cheaper and not as soft as others but works great in this hat. Obviously I did not make the video as I am sure you can tell with her accent and I highly recommend watching her stuff on youtube, she is an awesome teacher when it comes to crochet.

{crochet}

Other than this blog being about cameras and photography, I figured that I would mix it up a little bit more and blog about crochet. I have been crocheting only since November and I am a self taught crochet-er...is that even a word? I learned mostly for watching youtube....yes youtube! I plan on sharing some of the videos that I used to follow when I was just learning. And if you plan on starting to crochet do yourself a favor and start off SLOW. I tried to just jump in and start crocheting hats, wrong move! I highly suggest that if you are just starting out to just make a square. Make a medium sized chain and single crochet all the way down and back up.

From my experience with crochet a hat is one of the easiest things to make. You don't have to worry about your stitch being too tight or not tight enough, and for a beginner it is really easy to pick up. The following link will be a video that has 7 different tutorials in one. The more popular slouchy beanies, that I have made several of,  are also a part of this video.

{Forever and always}

E-sessions are starting to become a favorite. I don't know if it's just because I have been shooting them a lot lately since it's wedding season or just the excitement of being a part of something so special. Typically if I am doing a couple's e-session then I have their wedding too, so I guess you could say that these sessions act as an ice breaker as well. E-sessions take a couple hours to complete since I normally use multiple locations, therefore it gives me plenty of time to get to know the couple even better, get awesome photos, and most importantly have FUN! As always I am more than grateful for the couples that I have worked with in the past and look forward to meeting the ones in the future! This past Tuesday I had the pleasure of taking my future brother-in law and his fiance's engagement photos. I have never done a session this late and I was worried about lighting at first, however now that it's done the lighting was great! Hopefully I'll get to do more during early evening or just before sunset. Here are a couple favorites from their session.

{First post and a busy weekend}

So, yes as you can see I have started a blog! Mostly to discuss photography and my newest addiction crochet. Call me granny all you want but crocheting is more than just a hobby I also make all of my very own photography props used on mostly babies and kids.

For a wedding that I have to shoot in July I had the pleasure of doing the engagement photos today for the future Mr. and Mrs. Giles. Here are some of my favorites!

Saturday was the big day for Miss Starla Baker, her very first photo shoot! I have been waiting pretty long for this to happen since her mother and I are pretty good friends at work. She wanted to be a little diva at first and just be held but with a ton of patience we were able to get the job done.
